Day trips to other ski resorts could include Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Homewood, Tahoe Donnor, Incline Village, Mount Rose or Heavenly Valley. Squaw Valley has year around ice skating rinks and swimming pools, tram rides to the mountain top, full service spa facilities, many restaurants from casual to elegant, galleries, and shops. Both The Resort at Squaw Creek and The Village at Squaw Valley are nearby have a full range of services and facilities. There are year around activities for children and adults, including ski school, horseback riding, off road bike trails, hiking trails from easy to challenging, with river rafting and fishing nearby. There is a golf course in Squaw Valley and a large variety of courses throughout the North Tahoe area. Ten minutes away is scenic Lake Tahoe, busy with its full range of water sports and other popular activities. The Gold Rush country is a possible day trip as well. Reno's casinos and the Reno airport are just an hour away. Sacramento airport is about two hours.
